Between presence and absence, the body becomes a trace—always shifting, never complete.
Metamorphosis is a solo exhibition by Keisuke Azuma that explores the fluid nature of identity, perception, and the human body. Working with layers of diluted oil paint, the artist creates compositions where forms emerge and dissolve, leaving behind only traces of presence.
Rooted in Japanese aesthetics and shaped by a contemporary sensibility, Azuma’s practice focuses on the space between visibility and absence. His fragmented figures resist definition, inviting viewers into a slower, more contemplative mode of looking.
At the heart of the exhibition lies the idea of transformation—not as a fixed state, but as a continuous process of becoming. Through subtle gestures and restrained imagery, Metamorphosis offers a quiet counterpoint to a world driven by clarity and immediacy, opening a space for reflection, ambiguity, and introspection.
